London, England...

When I am going through all the places in the book I have visited before this blog- I am just going in order of the book- since I am HORRIBLE at remembering the dates I visited these places. Hopefully moving forward this blog will help me keep track of when I visited where.
The first stop in the book for me is London, England. Ryan (my husband) and I visited London on our way back to the states from Italy. We unfortunately didn't get to spend much time there- so hopefully I will be blogging about this place again soon!

We started our day in London on one of the double decker bus tours. Seriously- who doesn't secretly want to ride in one of those double decker buses? Well, not me anymore! We ended up standing in long lines trying to get on and off the buses- it was a mess! The buses are packed! We thought it was the best way to see the most- since we only really had 1 full day in London. We were probably right but I would have rather beaten our own path. I hate to tell people not to do these tours because some people love them- but it wasn't the right choice for us!

One MAJOR London suggestion and Patricia suggested it- so I got to mark London off in the book- is "a night at the theater". We saw "Wicked". AMAZING! I love broadway shows and this one was just great!

Another thing that is a must to do in London is fish-and-chips and a pint at the pub. I am a huge fish-and-chips fan... I mean I (currently) live in Alaska, we eat halibut and chips all the time! I was surprised to find my fish in London included the bones and skin. I am not sure if this is common but I will say I like my fish-and-chips with no bones and skin. The pint was great though!

I wish I could have done more shopping, seen Buckingham Palace and had a good curry. However, those will be listed in my next blog post about London.

Safe travels! ~Neely

And so begins my quest to visit 1,000 places before I die...

My father says that I'm always on the first bus out of town and he's very right. I have always wanted to see new places and new things and I try to take advantage of any opportunity to do just that. I love watching the travel channel, so it feels like everyday I am visiting a new place. Mostly I think "why is Samantha Brown doing Neely Brown's dream job?" So Travel Channel- if you are ever reading this- please hire me! haha.
I started reading "1,000 Places To See Before I Die" when I took a job that sent me all over the USA for weeks at a time. I found I had nothing to do in these random places across the country on the weekends and so began my quest to visit all 1,000 places. I still have SO MANY places to visit but hopefully I have plenty of time left in my life to visit them all.
This blog is basically my travel journal. I am not a writer so any spelling and grammar errors- please look over. If you can't ignore them, I suggest you ignore this blog. :) Since I am starting this blog a couple years after I started my quest to visit all 1,000 places- some of my posts will be my memories of visiting places in the book. I will try to post pictures of these places along the way but honestly- I am horrible at uploading pictures... I am actually horrible about finishing projects I start- so we'll see how long this blog even lasts.
Please join me on my journey to visit all 1,000 places before I die!

Safe travels! ~Neely
